Henk van Oosterhout has a PhD in International Development Studies and is a microfinance expert. He has worked for the International Labor Organizations (ILO), the bilateral German Gesellschaft für Internationaler Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the European Commission (EC) and the World Bank. He has lived and worked in Africa, Middle-East and Asia. In 2015 he set up Inclusive Finance Advisory Services (IFAS) that carries out short-term assignments to solve a wide range of operational and strategic challenges in microcredit, microfinance and inclusive finance. Van Oosterhout gives lectures and presentations on poverty, wealth and inequality in the world and a wide range of other development issues. He also provides consulting services and technical support to corporate social responsibility (CRS) departments that finances and/or carries out projects in poor countries. Henk van Oosterhout has written several books and articles on poverty and inequality, and the role of microcredit in uplifting the well-being of the poorest, and for the growth of family businesses.
